Lyceum of the Philippines Laguna (LPL) opened the Capital Markets Center last February 10th. This is in keeping with LPL’s mission of providing quality education for both its staff and its students. It aims to promote knowledge about capital markets to both students and staff as a way of educating them on financial management, investment practice, and awareness of the global stock market.
The Capital markets Center is composed of a row of computers that have access to a trading portal. From there, employees and students can log-in, and view the status of their stocks. Two television sets which continuously feature news on the global financial scene are there to provide context and information as developments in the market unfold.
“The Capital Markets Center is a project of LPU Laguna President Mr Peter Laurel, under the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA). It’s goal is to propagate learning in the capital markets of the Philippines, and train both teachers, administrators and students in savings and investments. Ultimately, LPU envisions this as an important undertaking for national development,” reads the mission statement of the Capital Markets Center.
